If a friend or relative makes a racist or homophobic remark, do you tend to confront them or let it slide? Are you more likely to confront them if it offends you directly or someone else who seems reluctant to speak up?

I live in a family full of racists and homophobes, so I'm definitely used to confronting them about it. One family member in particular, especially. Any time she makes a negative comment towards anyone I jump, but it never ceases to be countered by her arguement, "I'm not racist, it's the truth", and she closes her ears to any further arguements I make. It's when she talks trash about the gays and lesbians that my blood really starts to boil, though, and she's actually threatened to kick me out of the house more than once for not siding with her and "opening my eyes to what's right in front of me". She fails to see that she's the close-minded one, not me.

There's no reason to be that way. None at all, no matter what religion might tell you or anything of the like. I hate racists and homophobes more than anything, and I will never stop calling out people who make those sorts of remarks.
